A Fine Place to Talk Sh!t
For the last few months I’ve been walking around with hot wheels and doll shoes in my pockets. I came across a huge lot of vintage hot wheels and decided to make ‘girly’ things out of them, but every time I sat down to get started I ended up playing with them and forgetting what my task was so they would end up in my pockets. I’ve finally got the first batch of these broaches done. They are all one of a kind.
I’ve always had a thing for skaters. Something about the whole skate culture is appealing to me. Except the falling part, that’s kind of unfortunate. I think that if you’re gonna wipeout you should at least do it in style. That’s where Junkprints comes in. Yesterday I recieved my Art for Obama book. This book was put together by Shepard Fairy and Jennifer Gross. It features a ton of artists’s work including the my Colored Fountain Illustration. It’s available online at amazon.com
If you were within 100 miles of NYC and you missed the FRESHER! opening than you may be crying your eyes out! But not to worry, I just caught word that their will be a closing party soooooo, don’t sleep on this one. It was such a fun time, all the peeps came out and I’m glad that someone was documenting the event cuz I was too busy getting up w/ people and dancing my booty off. TRASHION is a refuge for things underused, wasted, or under-appreciated to come together and form a larger work; a unified high energy experience of urban grit. TRASHION PART 2 features New York City artists who aren’t afraid to take risks and think outside the box. It is an interactive multi-media trash art inspired event series and gallery show which features art inspired by graffiti, recycled materials, surrealism, found toys, all kinds of tape, vinyl records, garbage bags, rusted steel, neck ties, paint samples, glitter, dreadlocks, newspaper, nails and more. The work seen here is engaged in a dialog with the urban landscape we live in and the human condition it creates. TRASHION seeks to envelop the audiences senses, inviting the viewer to expand their personal definition of what art is and their relationship to the world around them.
