If you were within 100 miles of NYC and you missed the FRESHER! opening than you may be crying your eyes out! But not to worry, I just caught word that their will be a closing party soooooo, don't sleep on this one. It was such a fun time, all the peeps came out and I'm glad that someone was documenting the event cuz I was too busy getting up w/ people and dancing my booty off.  Highsnobette was in the house and have tones of recap pics and so does Toofly. Gallery Exhibit—August 28-October 23, 2009 Intermedia Arts, 2822 Lyndale Ave. S, Minneapolis, MN 55408 Building on three years of enormous success and international recognition, Intermedia Arts is proud to present the fourth installment of B-Girl Be: A Celebration of Women in Hip-Hop, a multimedia festival encompassing the four elements of hip-hop: MCing, DJing, breakdancing and graffiti. The mission of B-Girl Be is to influence and inspire leadership to change the perceptions and roles of women in hip-hop for current and future generations. This beloved Minneapolis event is a place to make connections, build confidence, sharpen skills and gain access to the tools to create music, film, poetry, rap, aerosol art and dance. On Saturday, September 19th, 2009 B-Girl Be hits the streets again with the B-Girl Be Block Party, an all day festival at Intermedia Arts that brings international, national and local girls and women in hip-hop together in Minneapolis for music, dance, live mural painting, film and an art marketplace. This is one day packed with events and opportunities to showcase women’s aesthetic vision and creative leadership in hip-hop. Before, during and after the block party, B-Girl Be hosts a hip-hop dance showcase at Intermedia Arts curated by local dancer and choreographer Amy Sackett. Tickets sell out fast and shows take place Thursday, September 17, Friday, September 18 and Sunday, September 20 at 8:00 pm and Saturday, September 19 at 2:00 pm and again for a late-night cipher at 10:00 pm after the block party in the Intermedia Arts’ theater.
