Do you love IKEA as much as I do? I think it is a great place to find snazzy furniture at a decent price. Now Parisians can find IKEA furniture right in several subway stations around the city. It is definitely a fabulous advertising idea. I like the idea of luxuriating on a big comfy couch while waiting for a train.
If you are in Paris be sure to check out the installations. They are available until March 24, 2010.
Check out some other public art installations that will surely allow you to “pop a squat” and “take a load off” :
Artist Hongtao Zhou created this very cool place to sit on the shores of Lake Mendota, Wisconsin.
This public art piece entitled Mountain Camp was created for the Canadian town of Banff by artist Susan Detwiler. The installation includes a pair of moccasins, an old coffee-pot, a cowboy hat, and saddlebag around a bronze campfire.
This is my favorite of the installations. I love reading outside and this would be a fine place to sit back and relax with a good book and enjoy the weather. Designed by artist Lisette Spee in collaboration with architect Tim Van Den Burg, these “lawnge chairs” are part of a series of work created for outdoor areas in Valkenberg Park in Breda, Netherlands.
