THE MOST AMERICAN THING TO DO

For the 4th of July I did the most American thing that one can do Lol... Well, I went to the Nathan's world hot dog eating contest (hey don't take away my cool points) I really wanted to ride to Coney Island and watch goons stuff their faces with tubes of meat rejects. I didn't see much cuz I'm kinda short but I did get some pics and for the first time ever their was a tie...dun dun dunnnnn. So they did the obvious thing and made them eat 5 more hot-dogs [insert barf] and 'America' aka Joey Chestnut beat 'Japan' aka Takeru Kobayashi. Resulting in a thrilled crowd chanting 'America! America!' Wowwwwwwww, this must be the American Dream. okay Enough of the sarcasm, as strange as it was I had a great time and though I prob won't attend next year's festivities I will be biking to Coney Island more this year.

DECLARE INDEPENDENCE

I guess when ya really start thinking about things like origin and patriotism that means yer growing up. Personally I’ve spend a lot of my time on the planet feeling like I don’t quite belong where I’m at. Since coming back to the States from Canada, I’ve had a whole new perspective of what it means to be ‘American’ and have decided for the sake of making where I’m at a better place, I’m going to remove all hyphenations from the term American such as Afro-America, Hispanic-American, etc. It’s not a matter of throwing away the roots, in fact it’s embracing all the roots and realizing that my fore-fathers [and mothers] are just as much the face of America as George Washington and Ben Franklin. One of the most unique aspects of The U.S.A. is that it is not ethnically homogenous and that needs to be embraced and celebrated. Like Mos Def says “It’s not where ya been, it’s where ya at!”

PARTY RECAP

This had to be the best party that I've been to in a real long time...99% of the people were dancing 99% of the time and the party ended when the sun came up. Toronto was def in the house, So I know ya wanna see pics right? Well with  all the whoo ha, I left my camera at the studio so the party will have to exist as a legendary experience complete with baby elephants and unicorns. Big ups to Max and Sarah of Ruffeo Hearts Lil Snotty, Mike,  James and Tris of Tough Dumplin  on the wheels all night and all the folks that came out and danced til the sun came up. Cheers to a fantastic year.

REED SPACE

I'm such a huge admirer of Jeff Staple  of Staple Design and just about all his business endeavors. The other night I ended up at the private opening of the this fantastic show at his store Reed Space. In fact it was sooo private that I got kicked out ....go figure, but not before I got a few shots. The man himself was there surrounded by a harem of Asian chicks. It was like a blaxploitation film, Jeff was Shaft...no lie.
