REED SPACE

I'm such a huge admirer of Jeff Staple  of Staple Design and just about all his business endeavors. The other night I ended up at the private opening of the this fantastic show at his store Reed Space. In fact it was sooo private that I got kicked out ....go figure, but not before I got a few shots. The man himself was there surrounded by a harem of Asian chicks. It was like a blaxploitation film, Jeff was Shaft...no lie.

FRESH TO LIFE

I don't understand why people say 'yo, that was fresh to death', or 'I was looking fresh to death' Dead things are rotting, their's not much fresh about death and I always thought that the saying should be fresh to life! and what's fresher to life than a cute ol' baby? A really close pal of mine is super knocked up and she's gonna have the freshest baby ever (at least until the next baby in the world is born). That's got the wheels cranking in my head. I often get requests to make some of my clothing in baby sizes but I'm really conflicted about imposing social perspectives on babies. Those lil goobers can't even see straight and it's kinda overkill to put an Obama 2008 tee on an infant. At the same time I hate when baby girls have tees with barbies on them too. In due time they will develope tastes and by the time pre school rolls around I'm sure most lil girls will wanna rock pink on their own accord (w/ some help from their super influential environments) and that's cool with me, I just don't wanna assist that.

SUPER TECHIE

These days I've been feeling really techie. Me and the interenets have a real "intense" relationship. I absolutely love browsing and all the wonderful stuff that exists on line, love designing sites but when it comes to building sites, that part drives me a bit bonkers and I tend to hire a programmer for the dirty code stuff. I recently completed Temporary Gallery's site (with out a programmer) and like how it turned out so that inspired me to give dookyblog.com a facelift. I always intended dookyblog to be a stand alone site but out of I guess lazyness it ended up a blogger blog. I love google as much as the next person and was super happy when they aquired blogger because it made the whole interface alot easier to use, but like all good sweaters I out grew them and am in the beta staged of dookyblog.com still attempting to export my blogger blog to this one...worpress keeps telling me it should be easy but I beg to differ 😉 It's not like I can have only one pot on the stove...so I've takin' on junkprints.com too. Here's the goal for junkprints: Get a few items up and for sale directly through junkprints.com, while directing customers to my whole line which is showcased on etsy.com. Don't worry etsy, I'm not leaving you...just expanding. I tried OScommerce and zen cart as cart applications, and I was able to modify the CSS info to get the 'store' looking okay...but not great and I kept having strange security problems so for now I've settled on 'buy now' options for each item. (until I can find a snazzy PHP programmer who wants a bit of buisness) In the mean time These are screen shots of the site so far. Let me know yer thought...and any programmers out there, let's be friends!

BAG LADY OF JUNK

Twisted pineapple bag, originally uploaded by junkprints.

Fresh off the presses! I just made this one today and it's on the site. I need to draw...just sit and draw and as part as my procrastination with drawing I've been designing these nifty huge bags. This one is already available for purchase. Think I'm just making one, so that I can keep making new ones...(and have time to draw)

Big Man Bag, originally uploaded by junkprints.

I've felt the need to make bags. Lately that's all I've been inspired to do. I'm really playin with scale check out these hujormous bags...these are the types yer doctors want you about. This one is not on the site yet, but will be avaiable at Market NYC tomorrow! I'll be there selling my goodies. Stop by and say hi 😉

TO BE OR NOT TO BE

JUNKPRINTS.COM presents TO BE OR NOT TO BE? Never thought I’d be quoting Shakespeare, but hey... BE "BLACKER" Introducing the COLORED FOUNTAIN TEE One could call this tee an exercise in appropriation. In honor of our fave shortest month, that has been deemed the month of Black history and cupid harassment, I wish you a Happy February. So if you haven’t pulled out those MLK posters,  sent cards to all yer lovers or schooled yer ignorant comrade (or self), today is the day (not that any other day wasn’t). This shirt has been dancing around in my head for long time...now it’s off my chest and hopefully on yours. BE "LOVED" IMMIGRANT BEATER Valentines Day can be corny, but this year I’ve found a new appreciation for it by celebrating the lovely and embracing optimism in sticky situations. Try and love each other as much as you love yourself. $5 from every “Immigrant Beater” shirt sold will be donated to the National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights Organization. BE HERE! MARKET NYC 268 Mulberry street (btwn Houston & Prince) SAT. FEB 9. 11a-7p SAMPLE SALE $25 HOODIES, $15 TEES Selected items only
