His work is praised for its creativity and complexity, but for Jean-Michel Basquiat art was simple. “I start a picture and I finish it. I don’t think about art while I work. I try to think about life,” Basquiat once said.
I know all my Southern Cali 80s babies have distinct memories of going to Disneyland entering Tomorrow Land and viewing Micheal Jackson and Francis Ford Coppola’s insane rendition of Star Wars. My pal Stella recently went to Disneyland and informed me that they brought it back!!!! No way Stella!! This alone may inspire a trip back to Cali. I’ve posted the YouTube version but it really must be seen in 3-D, and perhaps with the nostalgia of how amazing it was to you when you were 7. I showed it to a few of my born and bred East Coast pals and they thought I had lost my marbles.
Wow!!!! I’ve just finished watching one of the most beautiful films I’ve seen in a long time. Not sure how this one got past my radar it was released in 2006, but I’m glad I saw it. I’m always a sucker for a good tale.
