There has always been a debate on whether or not parents should spank their kids. Some people say it's good discipline and others believe it's too harsh. Personally, my mother tried spanking me once and cried doing it. After that she never did it again, but I was (and still am) a good child so I rarely got punished. A new study conducted by Marjorie Gunnoe, professor of Psychology at Calvin College, found that young children who are spanked by their parents grow up to be happier and more successful than those who have never been hit. The research also claims that they are also more likely to do voluntary work and to want to go to college moreso than those who have never been physically disciplined. Spanking is actually illegal in twenty European countries and in the U.S. spanking laws vary by state. Personally, I'm not sure the results of this research is true for all cases and am a bit skeptical of the study. I am interested to hear what people think about this.
